"How the Crane Got Blue Eyes"
From an adaptation by
John E. Smelcer

This narrative show is an Alaskan native story. The Crane, while eating berries, leaves his eyes on a log to watch out for him. The eyes march around and become afraid and call out for the crane to return. This is constantly a false alarm. Finally the crane doesn't return when alerted by the eyes and this time he should have as the eyes have been stolen. In desperation the crane tries the berries for eyes. He finds that the raspberries make every thing red and the black berries make every thing black. But the blueberries made everything pretty and blue.

UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT

A radio show retold by puppets
written by
B. Hutton and Jeff Silverman

"Take Five"

This show consist of three puppets that are on a playground. The original piece was performed to the music of Dave Brubecks "Take Five". This piece was first performed at Side St. Espresso in Anchorage, Alaska. We did this as a performance that was a dance interpitation of "Take Five" as two of the puppets interacted on the playground. In its original concept this show was to be used as a problem solving venue for children. Place children in a playground environment and letting them work out problems of childhood.

"The Germ Eater"

When in Afghanistan I had the oppurtunity to work with David Mason's Mobile Mini Circus for Children. The ministry of health asked David to add a perfomance in his circus that would deal with the issue of hand washing. One out of five children die by age five from dysentary and diearrea. So we came up with this puppet thats velcro hands attract velcro/metal germs. When the germy hands make contact with the magnet mouth the germs attach. With the added germs in stomach the illusion of the germs being swallowed is an effective piece to demonstrate the value of washing hands.
